Our journey began in Finland, also known as the land of a thousand lakes. As soon as we landed in Helsinki, we were welcomed by the crisp air and stunning landscapes. Our first stop was the iconic Senate square known for its architectural allegory of political, religious, scientific and commercial power house.Next our Cruise from Helsinki to Stockholm via a Viking Line ship is a breathtaking experience that combines the beauty of the Baltic Sea with the luxury and comfort of a modern cruise ship. Moving on to Sweden, we were greeted by the cosmopolitan city of Stockholm, spread over 14 islands connected by bridges and ferries.Walking through the grounds of Drottningholm Palace which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site felt like stepping into a historical painting. The Baroque architecture was breathtaking, especially with the lush gardens unfolding in perfect symmetry. What made the experience even more fascinating was knowing that the King and Queen actually live in one wing of the palace. It’s amazing how the rest of the building is open to the public while still being a functioning royal residence. Visiting the Vasa Museum was like stepping into a frozen moment in time. Every intricate carving, cannon, and timber told a story—not just of a ship, but of Swedish history, craftsmanship, and the high price of pride. Our trip from Stockholm to Karlstad was more than just travel—it was a visual treat. As we travelled westward, the city slowly gave way to sprawling forests, shimmering lakes, and quiet countryside. Every few minutes, the landscape changed—one moment we were passing through deep green woods, the next we were skimming the edges of peaceful lakes that mirrored the sky. The journey from Karlstad to Oslo was like moving through a watercolor painting—dense forests, open meadows, and quiet lakes shimmered under a soft sky. We made a quick stop by Lake Vänern on our way—couldn’t resist pulling over for a few photos. The lake was absolutely massive and sparkled under the intense sun. Despite sweating through our clothes, it was worth refreshing mental pause during our journey. Stepping aboard the Fram Museum was like traveling back in time. The creaking wooden floors and compact living quarters vividly illustrated the challenges faced by polar explorers. Our journey from Oslo to Gudgavan by Lourde Tonnel is a mesmerizing journey through the heart of Norway, offering breathtaking views and experiences along the way. The small village of Gudvangen, situated at the end of the Nærøyfjord, serves as the starting point for this scenic journey. The fjord cruise from Gudvangen to Flåm was like sailing straight into a dream. As our boat glided through the still waters of the Nærøyfjord, the scenery around us grew more dramatic by the minute—towering cliffs, cascading waterfalls, and tiny wooden farms clinging to impossibly steep hillsides. As we approached Flåm, a small village nestled between mountains and water.But the highlight of my trip to Norway was the famous Flam Railway, considered one of the most scenic train journeys in the world. The train ride took me through rugged mountains, cascading waterfalls, and deep valleys, offering breathtaking views at every turn. It was truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience that I will never forget. The final stop was Denmark via DFDS a popular cruise line.As we cruise towards Denmark, we will witness the stunning coastline and charming cities like Copenhagen. The DFDS cruise offers luxurious accommodation, delicious dining options, and exciting onboard purchasing options especially alcoholic drinks at a lesser price. Seeing the Little Mermaid in person was both charming and unexpectedly moving. Nestled quietly on a rock by the Copenhagen waterfront, she’s much smaller than most imagine—but somehow that makes her even more powerful. Our visit to Christiansborg Palace felt like stepping into the heart of Danish history and power. The palace isn’t just a grand building—it’s where the royal family, parliament, and judiciary all come together under one roof. That alone made it feel special.Walking through the Royal Reception Rooms, especially the Throne Room and the Great Hall, was a visual feast. The Queen’s Tapestries were incredibly detailed—each one telling a chapter of Denmark’s 1,000-year story. You could feel the weight of history in every room. Drifting through Copenhagen’s canals was one of the most relaxing and scenic ways to see the city. The water reflected colorful facades, historic buildings, and sleek modern design—all coexisting effortlessly.It wasn’t just a sightseeing tour—it was a peaceful glide through the soul of Copenhagen. Crossing the Öresund Bridge from Copenhagen to Malmö felt like traveling into the future. The bridge is a stunning feat of engineering—8 kilometers of sleek structure stretching across the water, linking Denmark and Sweden. One moment you're in one country, and minutes later, you're in another. No passport stamps, just open skies and endless sea. As we approached Turning Torso, Malmö’s iconic skyscraper, we couldn’t help but look up in amazement. The building literally twists as it rises—a bold, artistic spiral of white and glass reaching 190 meters high. It’s not just Sweden’s tallest building, it’s a true modern landmark—and one of the most unexpected highlights of the trip. In conclusion,our new experience in Finland, Norway, Sweden, and Denmark was truly unforgettable.It was a journey that opened our eyes to the beauty and diversity of the Nordic region. Johny Zacharia
